I am leaving until every moderator is demoted except for Refalm. Posts by anyone or everyone are continuously moved to the dead thread zone when they contain no advertising, child porn, or even angry outbursts. 90% of the active members on this site are active moderators and this is unnecessary. In fact, it has always been what is killing this forum.

Since it is clear history is going to repeat itself, I am not going to waste my time repeating it with you. Get rid of every last moderator!

I certainly haven't ever deleted anything except for spam, porn or warez ever.

I think moderators should say why they edit or bin a post and shitty commends such as language aren't acceptable in my book.

I believe in laissez-faire moderation - less is better.

But anyways, I reported that post (even though I'm a moderator) because it would be useful to begin a discussion about posts with blatant obscene language and little else in the way of content. Lead Head was clearly dealing with that report, and I have no problem with the way he did that.

Fair enough, if he's making post after post of nothing but fuck bullshit cunt etc. then remove it because it's spamming but otherwise, I think it's best to leave it so others can form their opinions about the post question.

I'm not sure what you're saying? You do realize he used the word faggots to describe the developers? There are very few times I look upon a bad word with disgust (you know I use them all the time) - but I have a problem when a post seems to serve no other purpose than to contain obscene language - that makes it an obscene post, that should probably be dealt with imo.

How do youse feel about obscene language? I don't think it's useful btw to simply edit and/or bin offending posts - offenders should be warned, and then temp banned for consistent abuse imo, and that's the important part.

No I didn't realise that because it had been deleted before I got chance to see it so I didn't get to forum my own opinion.

I use the word faggot pretty leisurely. What it looked like to me is that my post was deleted for no real reason at all. I didn't even notice the obscenity because that is just how casually I make the obscenity.

In any case, who cares about the obscenity, keeping it where it was served more of a chance of me looking like a wanker. I find it startling that people care so much about preserving my dignity.

A lot of Kintaro's posts have been reported, and this is the only one that I've really found that could be offensive. (well not counting the "I've always wanted to fuck an albino", but I wasn't sure about that one, didn't really bother me all that much). Most of the reported posts were just trivial stuff that did not matter at all,  like the whole English national anthem thing. I would have restored it, but I didn't want to step on anybody's toes. For that matter, I haven't binned a single thread by Kintaro and have no clue as to why this one and all the others ended up in the DTZ.

As far as me not using this site, I read the forums almost every day and check out almost all the new posts. Just because I don't always reply to things doesn't mean I don't use the site.

Kintaro, I know you use language such as this leisurely, hence my response: I reported your post for language and more specifically I responded with "horrible language, hate to be you". Normally I use bad language to further my point - but I'd tend to use words like idiot developers here rather than faggot developers, because that serves my purpose much better.

And you are not the only one doing this, just about every member is a moderator and is binning others threads. "What is lost?" seems to be the attitude towards it. Well, in the case I mentioned, what has been lost is the discussion me and Aloone Jones were having. These are informal discussions, that is why forums exist anywhere, and moderating them in this fashion is an act of taking all of this far too seriously.

I don't understand how you guys are so protective and overbearing of this place. It is almost like this site is the only thing that gives your lives meaning, well, god bless you. Because in doing it, you take away any meaning this site could possibly have to the outside observer. To anyone outside, this group just looks like a bunch of idiots getting erections over their mod powers. So nobody ever comes in, and in doing that, you inform nobody of your cause and actually help Microsoft.

I looked at the moderator log and this is what I notice:

• refalm has a billion entries editing stuff - what is this refalm? Is it scripts updating posts or something?
• Other moderators are just doing their job

I think it's a credit to this community that a large handful of all of the committed, tried and tested members can all have administrative rights and they AREN'T abused.

Well, all I know is that every time a post is made it goes in the draw to win the grand prize of being randomly deleted.

Why is everyone a moderator in the first place? Because they got made moderators in response to the influx of trolls many years ago. After that, they were never removed, and with the moderator powers everyone else was scared away. Now this forum is just a circlejerk of overbearing cunts and as a place for discussion is rendered useless.

Anyway, just a note for Refalm who I been unable to contact...

We have talked about this a little. Removing everyone from being a moderator would stir everyone up. Suddenly, the only power these individuals have in their lives will be lost and it might seem that they will all leave the forum. I want to assure you that there is no meaning in the lives of these people either, so that cannot happen, they will always come back. This change will finally allow the forum to expand and stop intimidating new members.
