Supposedly Rhapsody/x86 had poor hardware support or something.  But I bet it could've been just fine when fully released...I'm still convinced that Apple won't port it for purely financial reasons.

It is Mac OS X. The evolution:

NeXTSTEP > OPENSTEP > Rhapsody > Mac OS X Server 1.0 > Mac OS X "Client"

There's very little separation between Rhapsody and OS X. The main event that signals the end of OPENSTEP/Rhapsody and the beginning of OS X was Carbon.
