I'm learning to type from scratchcheckout http://dvzine.org/
HOW IS THAT KEYBOARD LAYOUT SIMPLER THEN QWERTY????
Toadlife: Not really. You read. The Qwerty was designed by Sholes because of jamming Typewriters, but not to slow ppl down, just to separate common digraphs (th, ei, ie, ck, st etc.). The slow-'em-down thing is a myth. I begin to realise just how I hate this random keyboard layout...
I can't convert my keyboard to Dvorak, since it's a British one
What a rubbish excuse lol.My keyboard is British.I tried it without changing the keys around, was fine.I decided to re-arrenge the keys, to dedicate myself. You lose the pound sign. That's all :-)Alt-codes anyone ;-)
Okay, yes it was designed to keep fast typists from jamming mechanical typewriters, but then end result was the same - it slowed people down. A permanent solution to a temporary problem.
Well, no. It was changed even before there were any typists. The Remington, the first typewriter available to public already had the Qwerty. But I agree, it was not (by Sholes) intended to be a final solution, just temporary. And there is no reason to be using the Qwerty, whatsoever. I have some trouble though, because there is no Czech version... and to think Dvorak was Czech!!!
