Why does google search faster and better, on the internet, than Outlook does for your own e-mails?

The Outlook search feature is the most poorly designed thing I've ever seen.

worker201:
Funny, Outlook doesn't seem to run on my Linux machine.  And I noticed that it only runs on a Windows machine when you install it.

RaZoR1394:
What version of Outlook are we talking about?

hm_murdock:
I don't have Outlook. I have Entourage.

If you really want to know its because the results it gives are basically stored presearched, it only to find the top 10 to display using its billion dollar computing systems (the results are probably stored in a way to accelerate this too). When you do a search on google it basically just looks up the keywords in a table. And the most popular searchs are cached as well.

Outlook just looks at your emails in turn which I believe are stored in a compressed format which doesn't help. It could implement a search database to give instant searching but this is too much trouble than its worth.
