Got myself an Apple IIGS

My school was throwing out some old Mac stuff the other day, so I decided to grab some of it. I got a working Apple IIGS w/ floppy drive, a working (I think atleast) Macintosh LCII, a keyboard/mouse to go with both of them, and an apple 80SC external harddrive. I still need to find a monitor, but I think the school still has one left. The other problem is however that I do not have the boot discs for the Apple II. Is there anyway to format/prepare a 5 1/4" disk within windows or linux for an Apple II? I have a 5 1/4" drive.

Looks like you can download system images that you can copy to disk there.  It's freeware!

Damn.  Every time my high school was getting rid of stuff, we weren't allowed to take it.  We were specifically stopped from doing so.  And I could've gotten a few LCIIs and a Model M keyboard from that....

Awesome, thanks for the links!

@WMD, I was very surprised when they let me grab the external harddrive. I thought for sure they would have said something about student records.

I hooked the GS II upto my TV, it boots up and just wants a startup disc, the LC II powers up and appears to boot from its internal 80MB HD. Hopefully it displays video once i find a monitor or apple RGB to VGA adaptor

Alright wanted a IIgs.  I used to stay after school just to use it and I had a PC at home (might've been a c64 actually -- can't remember what exactly then).

There's an application for OS X that allows you to interface with Apple disk drives somehow.  I forget its title.  You can get the IIgs onto the Internet I believe; would be easy enough to network with other older Macs over Appletalk.

In college there were some older PowerMacs (beige, probably not even G3) sitting in the hallway for more than a semester. I asked how to obtain one without stealing it but nobody had an answer.
