I can't find out where to start!

I know all the basics by now, because I've looked through a bunch of books, and I can't grasp it, I had the same problem with flash but I eventually learned and excelled at it.

But as much as I try it always goes like this:

First we need to make a variable

*makes a variable*

then we put that in a boolean statement

{

*variable*

}

or
{
*-variable*
}

Then you copy and paste these 50 lines of code into your program!

 O?O

*I don't understand any of what it told me to copy...*

How can I start?
