Don't lie. I've had XP on my machine for months now and it runs like it did when I first installed it. SuSE Linux 8, on the other hand, one day decided to crash every time I ran the online update. I ran the update from the Konsole and it gives me some unintelligable garbage about qt being unable to initialize the window. No one in the chat rooms knows why this is happening, and SuSE has failed to respond to me as of this time. Now I can't even update my system.
You want to know some other things that have mysteriously gone wrong under Linux since I've installed this version 2 months ago? Konqueror recently stopped rendering AA fonts. Konqueror crashes totally when I visit certain web pages (it's always done this) The permissions on the kicker icons suddenly changed to only allow root to run the programs; I had to manually go and change the permissions back. 2 mice are detected on my computer when there is only one. KMail wouldn't check my email until I made a "header entry" under a config file. Fonts suddenly started breaking up in GNOME help files whenever I scrolled up or down. Lilo stopped working, rendering my computer useless until I fixed the problem. Mozilla fucks up in some way every day. A corrupt thumbnail caused the file manager to crash every time I ran it until I deleted it. Quickbrowsing through the KDE menu causes a massive memory leak that crashes X within seconds. XCDRoast suddenly stopped loading, complaining about GTK not being able to "initialize X display buffer." Before you go saying "SuSE is a bad distribution" let me say that as bad as it is it's still a vast improvement over RedHat 7.2, which is what I was previously using. I could write 10 pages of problems that OS gave me.
SpeeDFreaK:
Maybe you should switch to Red Hat or something. Suse doesn't seem to be working out for you.
SpeeDFreaK:
Red Hat 7.3
