Deleting XP's memory
pariah:
Hey Im a newb on the whole windows hacking scene, but I was just wondering how to clear windows XP memory. By that I mean its uncanny ability to remember stuff! I need to fix this damn C-Dilla for Max but can't because it...remembers some stuff. Thx.
dbl221:
Well main memory is "cleared" when you shutdown the computer. Windows will "remember" things by placing then on a disk file an/or in the registry, which is of course one or more disk files.
Maybee you should let someone else fix the box.
pariah:
Well then its either being stored on a disc or in the registry...how do I clear registry?
Master of Reality:
to clear the windows memory, simply go into DOS and type "format C:". That shoudl fix windows good.
Calum:
to clear the registry, just go to the start menu, select run, and type "regedit" in the box.
This will start a program which looks similar to windows explorer, but which lists the contents of your registry.
It is a fairly easy to use tool, and it should allow you to delete anything you want from your registry.
Also go to this site here to find many registry rubbish that could either help you or waste your time. the best download from here would probably be regclean.
just run this and it'll make a backup of the current state of yr registry in whatever directory you ran it from, so when you've sorted out yr registry to yr satisfaction, make sure and run regclean so you can rollback to that registry at any time...
good luck!
