How could they do this to me?
lazygamer:
I had finally burnt Redhat 8 on CD, only thing left was to install it(and check out whether this new RH was a joke or not, and whether n00bs like me have something to fear). Checked the release notes on the CD for a moment, I was suprised to see Redhat 7.3 as the title. Ok scary, but surely they just didn't include RH8 notes? Boot time, OMG the install screen says Redhat 7.3!!!
Now I release that I was duped! Those dumb Redhat dudes must of included a RH7.3 mirror amidst their RH8 mirrors. :( :( :(
Is it my fault, did I accidently choose the wrong download section? Thank god I use ADSL and CD-RW's, but it still is very frustrating to have happen to you.
Master of Reality:
most of the links to mirrors drop you off down below the actual ISO in the hierarchy. YOu probly used an old mirror and lcicked on "current" or click on 7.3 because you are stupid. If it shows just the names for the distros make sure you get psyche.
TheQuirk:
Pardon me, but, how the HELL do you figure it's Red Hat's fault that YOU, THE USER downloaded the WRONG ISO? Sheesh.
Hey, look how shitty my blender is! I stuck my finger inside and then put it on full power, and it cut my finger all up! HOW COULD THEY DO THIS TO ME?!
lazygamer:
It is the blender company's fault if the blade suddenly goes flying off the spindle and chops my finger, because it wasn't fastened properly at the factory.
I am expressing lament that my time was wasted, when it appears to me that they may of done some sloppy bookeeping.
If you look under the downloads section, you'll notice that there is no link to download redhat 7.3. They were smart enough to remove that because Redhat 8.0 is the current version.
Now what I must of done is clicked on the mirrors section, assuming they would all be Redhat 8. I did this because I assumed the download Redhat 8 part would be a direct download from Redhat.com, and thus slow(so why bother?).
In order to save my ass and make MOR and Quirk look wrong, I had to do some detective work. ;)
It appears that the "download Redhat 8" really does link to the redhat FTP server, and not a list of mirrors. To find the mirrors list, you have to scroll to the bottom of the page under "related links". The mirrors section has no mention of redhat 7.3 OR redhat 8.0 formats.
I feel this concludes that it's not my fault. However, I know now that Valhalla is RH7.3 and Psyche is RH8. I just wish they would of warned of all mirrors not being up to date, and that the latest version is called Psyche. I mean how am I susposed to know that about the names, im just a n00b.
BTW, why do they call them Psyche and Valhalla?
TheQuirk:
I'm pretty damn sure they include those names on the ISO images. Why didn't you read them? Sheesh.
