New Computer, New Problems

I installed Redhat on my custom built AOpen, with a 1.7 ghz celeron... installed fine, detected the video card (geforce mx), and everything. Only thing that's a bit weird is the audio (thru the i845 ac97 driver). It works, but the sound is *very* soft. I didn't hear it until I cranked it up, and even then it was so soft I have to put my ear up to the speaker to hear it. The mixer is up full... Is there something I can do to fix this?

xyle_one:
i haven't the slightest idea. maybe its the actual computer volume, or the system volume. maybe one of them is down low, and one is up?? i don't know. sorry i couldn't be of more help..

SAJChurchey:
Yeah, check the volume on the computer, run

--- Code: ---
--- End code ---

emh:
Whichever sound mixer you choose, there should be a volume slider for both Master and PCM.  Be sure both of these are turned up to reasonable levels.

solo:
no, the mixer is up full blast, every single level is maxed.
