mounting windows partition

Make it easy on yourself.  Convert your NTFS partitions to FAT32.

Thats what i should do but i wont for two reasons, im not done foolin with XP and im not trying to make it easy, i'll probably try recompiling the kernal.  I  want to learn as much as i can about linux so i figure asking questions and trying diffrent things is the best way to go about it.

voidmain:
I just wanted to let you know that FAT32 compatibility in Linux is flawless, but they usually only give you RO (Read Only) access (or no access) to NTFS in the kernel for a reason.  If it's just a data drive and not a system drive then I say press on.  But XP can utilize FAT32 as well, it doesn't require NTFS.  Of course NTFS provides security that FAT32 does not so you would lose that if you convert.
