Attempt to outlaw GPL

(1/1)

Refalm:

quote:Leaders of the New Democrat Coalition attempt to outlaw GPL. A call to sign off on explicit rejection of "licenses that would prevent or discourage commercial adoption of promising cyber security technologies developed through federal R & D." has been issued by Adam Smith, Congressman for the Ninth District in the State of Washington... (

emh:
I don't think this is actually talking about outlawing GPL.  Just trying to give reasons (flawed ones at that) why the government shouldn't use GPL software.

My letter to Jim:
Why are you yrying to outlaw the GPL, trying to allow companys to take code from it? Why is it right. A peice of OpenSource code is a "Work of Art" and should be considered as one. If you where a painter and you made an amazing picture. And somebody took a copy from you without your permission and sold them making Millions, Would you be happy. Or if you where writing a program for years and then Microsoft took your code and sold it off making Millions, would you be happy? Think about what you are trying to do!

You really need to run your writings through a spellchecker

And learn the difference between "where" and "were". And its/it's for that matter. Incidentally Tux, that should be "its" in your signature.
