bachta_robert:
hi my name is robert,
i am a newbie at using linux so dont be very technical to me, thanks.
I also only use linux for gaming. I use RedHat Linux 7.3.
Why should i try to avoid needing windows programs, and why is linux so much better than windows.
thanks.

I know this guy, i introduced him to linux. First thing he noticed was the games and that's all he uses. as far as he's concerned linux has no other reason for being on his computer. The question is, why shouldn't he just use windows? gaming isn't a good enough reason. (sorry to be so short but i g2g)
bachta_robert:
I have notist a lot on linux like the cool screen savers and stuff like that but i havent looked around that much because of time problems.
i want to know why is linux so great. there is no real use for it because not many program can work on it

I think that maybe you've been exposed to the extreme opinions from both sides. The choice depends on what the person wants to do. It even depends on the level of interest you have in the computer you use. Choosing one OS over another does not make you a better person. If you are not interested in computers, and windows does what you need it to do to live your life, then fine, live your life with Windows.
If you are not satisfied with the product, then choose another product.
So if you're asking about alternatives, then I will offer two.
1) Linux, (I am bias to SuSe for beginners)
2) Apple (I personally feel this requires an unjustified amount of money)
So decide. I chose Linux because it obviously gives you (the user) more control, and when you configure it, it does what you configure it to do, even if it may be the wrong thing. Plus, I want to advance my knowledge regarding computers, and Linux requires you to learn something about the junk inside your computer. So if you are not interested in learning more technical details about your computer, then get yourself some money and buy an Apple! LOL!!!!!!!
Did I mention Linux is much cheaper?
