You will not be able to connect to AOL using ppp only. They use a proprietary authentication protocol and it requires the proprietary AOL client. If you get with a local ISP you should have NO trouble.

I think AOL uses their own standard called "Oscar" and Linux doesn't support it (neither to does Windows - only the AOL client does).

I CANT SWITCH ISPS... I must remain with AOL... if i cancel aol and get another, i wont be able to get online with windows.

If i get another, which i cant, thats just more money im losing.. ( my parents losing ) and they'll never pay for it!
