don't like OpenOffice
« on: 16 September 2003, 01:01 »
I tried doing some word processing with my new Linux system this weekend, and I don't really care for OpenOffice.  I seem to remember that WordPerfect was available for Linux a while back (like 5+ years ago).  Is it around still?  How can I get a hold of it?  Will it run on SuSE 8.2?

thanks a ton

by the way, nothing felt better than telling Yast to completely overwrite my old Win partition.  free at last...

It's less easy but still works on SuSE.

I prefer to use KOffice. Open office is great but the open office programs take longer to load than the microsoft programs.

StarOffice with the right fonts and the not so very entirely legal patches.      ;)

Well, the first thing I didnt like about OpenOffice was that it took so long to load - but that's only cosmetic and not a real problem.

Didn't care too much for the fonts, either, and that's something that is going to take a while to get used to.

But I guess my biggest problem is that I have been typing daily with Word Perfect for like 8 years now, and nothing else feels right.  Especially after you get your custom dictionaries set up and auto-correct personalized to hell.  It's unfortunate that the downloadable Linux version of WordPerfect does not have custom dictionaries.

They still need something like "MS Acces".
