After one and a half years, i am finally, for the first time, posting to this board using linux! i am typing this in konqueror!!!

Not sure if this is permanent though, i am using a borrowed Xircom Network Card. Not sure if i will get to keep it.

I can see i have work to do though, the fonts are rubbish. Any good pointers for how to sort that out?

Also, when i set up this system i didn expect to ever connect so now i need people advice about what to install for security sake and how to make sure it starts up automatically when it needs to. Again, any thoughts? it will all be there on my mandrake CD, just want to know what things to install.

While we're at it, let's plug my cause. Ok I've come up with a revelation! In wind0ze I cannot get my ASDL working out of the box, I need to install something first. Basically im thinking that it's not so much that im installing drivers as it is im installing the ability for Wind0ze to recgonize an internal ADSL modem.

So what if I just need to get a non-ethernet ADSL DHCP(I believe that's what my modem uses) add-on for Linux? The thought came to me when I realized that Linux never had a non-ethernet option for ADSL in the install program.(I've seen three differnt installs so far)

sorry, i have no more answers, just another question. kppp does not work in XFce, it returns a 16 error, can anybody link to a page that details the command line procedure for setting up a ppp dialup connection?

Calum, this probably isn't for your isp, but it might help. Has the locations of config files for dial-up. Lazygamer, what kind on internal ADSL NIC do you have, and is that software SpeedStream stuff?
