A decent Purchase

i dunno, one program being proprietary would make the whole OS proprietary? I think there is more to SuSe than just yast.. isnt there?
I wont be getting Suse anytime soon to find out either though.

voidmain:
Actually I should have done a little research before posting that. According to their license (which is not GPL) they do distribute the source. But they have restrictions:

Do you get yast2 with the SuSe downloadable version?  And I would say yes, yast is what makes SuSe SuSe. They use RPM format software installation which was created by RedHat. I don't know of what else SuSe has developed other than yast. I am sure someone will enlighten me....

And they prevent another company from making a profit simply by repacking and rebranding the SuSe distro. Hell, if RedHat had such a license there would be no Mandrake (something for you to think about).

Three things:
(1)The SuSe license allowed making ISOs.
(2)The OpenBSD one does not.
(3)OpenBSD doesn't provice ISos for security purposes, or so I'm told.

I was sure that the OpenBSD website told me to make an iso myself if i wanted one. How is not providing ISOs more secure??

TheQuirk:
What I was told is that you could change the ISO to have malicious "things." Having approved FTPs means you'll get the freshest packages and won't be getting any unwated, "evil" packages.

And that's not my opinion, that's what the folks on IRC told me!
