The only way I see Linux is gonna to become a Major OS is by:

#1. Forming a Group to work on something like DirectX. So that they can start getting some people to make the same kinda of cool, unique and highly interactive games like MS.

#2 There needs to be a company like Infogames that will promote, publish, and all that other good stuff for ony Linux Games. They need to get some Good Games on the Self of the Big Retailers. and on the Box of the game have it say "A Lunix Game" or something of the kinda. Once Mother, dads and kids see some of the Games that they can play only on Linux they will want to get that game (bardnaming Linux). But of course if they get the game and get Linux if they can't learn how to use Linux Interface in 3days then they will be less likely to go back.

#4 A group of people or a company needs to make something like Visual Basic and promote the products that people make for Linux. Have Software compains that there only reason for being there is to try and make Linux something.

okay, I know that what I said might sound messed up, but if yall think about it yall will get what I'm trying to say.

it seems to me if Linux keeps going the way it is, its gonna to windup being another MAC OS.

1)Making DirectX supported in Linux is  abad thing. If Linux-only games are going to be made, why should they be using Microsoft DirectX?

2)First of all, attempts have been made. The problem was that there was no demand for the games -- at least not compared with Windows games. Second, I doubt people will upgrade their whole OS just to play one game and trash all the other ones.

3) You forgot to make a three, you just skipped to four.

4)Visual Basic is a piece of shit. No one in their right mind would want to make something like it. If you want to make graphical applications easily, then you can combine C/++ with QT.

Edit: There's nothing wrong with Mac OS. It's great -- stable (uses's FreeBSD's 4.4 kernel) and user friendly.

1: OpenGL is better than DirectX. It is cross platform and therefore games made for it can be easier(ly) ported to other platforms.
4: there is many programming Languages that are better than Visual Basic that can do the same thing and MUCH more.

And this is a bad thing... because?

lazygamer:
What if MacOS hasn't overtooken the market because it's done all it can, and only MS ignorance is preventing them from suceeding?
