POR:
Add new device, I choose Modem Connection, then click NEXT and popup No modem was found on your system. Anyone has idea. I am new user linux. My modem is Conexant HCF 56 Data/FAX/Voice modem. Thanks

KernelPanic:
Which distribution (ie mandrake, red hat, debian etc) are you running and also is your modem internal by any chance?

voidmain:
According to this you might be hard pressed getting it to work with Linux.  However, they do point to some sites where drivers are being developed.  Maybe they have something ready to go. It's basically one of those "winmodems" (software modem).  Those types of modems are very proprietary and thus not very Linux friendly. But you may have some luck with those links.

This link looks promising: http://www.mbsi.ca/cnxtlindrv/
