forgot, can you like play mp3's and other things with it

The card is like maybe 2 years old.
And I have no problem playing mp3's with it.
the only thing is, sometimes when I log in as root and then switch back to the regular user account my sound is borked and I have to reboot.

hmmmm, all i have to say is that sound used to be shited on my box with the 3+ year old yamaha card, and when i put my new card in it worked. maybe someone else knows about this problem. do you have any other soundcards laying around that you could try/*probably don't, i have pills of hardware*/

Actually I have a Guillemot Muse XL lying around but it's even older than the Terratec and it slows down my pc a lot.
With the Terratec I have 215 FPS in 1024*768, 32 bit high detail, when I installed the Guillemot I only had 167 FPS with the same settings.

For the rest I use XFire 1024 in all my boxes, they're pretty decent cards.
I've been thinking about a higher-end soundcard though, something like the Terratec Six-fire, that front bay is just killing me  ;)

but did you get sound on the guilmont, and wow, 167fps is still alot faster then my box
