KernelPanic:
I seem to have me a wee little problem. I installed Mandrake 8.2 on a PC and it worked fine, then i installed kde 3.02 on it, i logged out and back in and kde loaded up just fine. Great.

Next time i logged in though an error popped up during kde init. arts was saying that it was being denied access to /dev/dsp and it would instead output to /dev/null. So ahh i have no sound.

Do I just need to change the access rights for /dev/dsp ?

theangelofdeath69:
More than bloody likely.  But why'd it change it in the first place?

KernelPanic:
n/m I have fixed it.
I did...

--- Code: ---
--- End code ---

Is that safe to do?
I think it is because it is only sound, right?

theangelofdeath69:
OF course it's safe - at the worst it'll need a reinstall, right?

KernelPanic:
We are Linux people here, therefore...
problems != reinstall
