and again, the question is, what good will it do for the end user or he hobbiest hacker?  
Open source is great for free software because someone who finds a security hole can patch it and submit the patch.  But for proprietary code, the patches will still have to wait on management to make the decision.....
I wonder if they will be releasing he code into the wild, or if they will be doing the same thing they are doing for the source code to the OS -- only selected individuals or groups (possibly those with >$10,000 of financial information stored in the passport wallet) will be able to view the code, and it could automatically deduct $100 from your accounts everytime you view it ... ok, maybe that's a little over the top... but it's worth a thought.
