Ah, good old VA-Linux. I had a few of their machines too. Too bad they had to get out of the hardware business.
Calum:
for those of us who are not going to be getting broadband any time soon, how can we download said movie into a usable format?
any ideas?

Short of watching at at work or at a friends house, I don't know...
KernelPanic:
quote: Thank you for inquiring about REVOLUTION OS. We are currently
planning to release the VHS videotape (NTSC) and special edition DVD
in mid-October through select online retailers such as Amazon.com and
ThinkGeek. The retail price will probably be between $23 and $26 USD
plus shipping and tax.
REVOLUTION OS will be released Region-Free to ensure worldwide DVD
player compatibility, and will be available through online retailers
to customers outside of the U.S.A. For the time being, all
international sales will be through online retailers.
The special edition DVD will include extras features such as
additional interview footage with Linux Torvalds, Richard Stallman,
and Brian Behlendorf, deleted scenes, a director's audio commentary,
trailers, a still image gallery, and a music video for "The Free
Software Song." I will try and let you know when REVOLUTION OS
becomes available.
You are correct that REVOLUTION OS has never been screened in the UK.
I would love to remedy that situation.
You can check out the trailer and first 8 minutes of REVOLUTION OS on

I found that online ^^^. But looking on amazon.com and co.uk and thinkgeek, I could not see it at all. Guess we might just have to wait.
Calum:
having seen the first 8 minutes, i would be interested to buy the full thing as a DVD. if anybody hears any further info on this, could they please post it? thanks.
also, isn't .asx a proprietary microsoft format? considering the content of the firt 8 minutes i find that is well past ironic.
edit - aha! the internet told me to look at the file as a text file and doing so revealed that the true url for the movie is:
mms://wm.ifilm.na-central.speedera.net/wm.ifilm.na-central/portal/2421280_200.asf
which shows that it's a .asf microsoft proprietary file format. the .asx file can point to mpeg files and such as well though, so cannot be truly thought of as proprietary.
