Getting xmms to play mp3s is just a 5 second job installing the plugin.

quote:restin256: I'm using Fedora right now. The only mortal flaw in it is that like RedHat, it doesn't use the standard kernel, meanning I can't view NTFS and Fat32 drives, my sound doesn't work with it, and it doesn't support MP3's. This is why it's now called Fagora.
I'm recompiling the kernel once I find a suitable guide on doing so, but even then I'll still have the problem with XMMS not playing mp3's.. bastards.
Well, I couldn't get apt to work with SuSE, and I can with Fedora.. dammit.

The FAQ isn't there for the fun of it you know: http://faq.belg88.com/. The viewing FAT32 patition stuff is easy, I posted something about it once on THIS forum.

What is it there for?

It's so that people who come here don't have to ask: "hey, how do I recompile my kernel?", because the answer is already in the FAQ.
restin256:

Recompiling the new kernel I meant. Right now I'm using the default 2.4.22 POS.
I was still in the process of searching for a guide when I posted the first time. And, I wasn't really asking how I can, just telling you I need to find a way to. >_>
Recompiling the kernel is more of a just-for-fun thing I'm doing for experience. Hopefully the 2.6.3 should work with my sound, especially if I compiled it on my system.
