Now that I actually have red hat 7.3 installed, I tried logging in as root so I could try and edit the grub file so i could load windows too, and I got some kinda error and I dont get the bar at the bottom anymore for Gnome.  How the hell do I get it back?  I've had nothing but problems with linux so far, its very frustrating.

and easyer way to get to the root acount is to logon as a normal user

then in a console, type the command

su

in, and give it your root password, then use the editor of choice on the /boot/grub/grub.conf file

hnugz:
OK lets pretend im a moron and I dont know how to do anything.  What file should I use to edit the grub.conf?  And is that the file I need to edit in order to set up win2k to boot as well?

sporkme:
reinstall linux

The file you want is: /boot/grub/menu.lst. That's the one to edit to add/remove different OSs for booting.
