Doogee:
Hi. My mate is having trouble with a Diamond SupraExpress 56i Pro. It common knowledge that this is a winmodem but i was wondering if anyone know of a "linmodem" driver for it because he is now forced to use Windows and as u should all know, that is a BAD thing.

voidmain:
It is one of the modems in this list:
http://www.idir.net/~gromitkc/pci_list.html

But I don't know if that means you will be able to get it to work. Look around that site and see what you can come up with. I make sure I don't buy Winmodems.

Ya, i use ADSL myself and the modem telstra gives u is totally linux supported so ive got no probs but my mate would use linux if he could get his modem to work...

voidmain:
I've got cable with an *external* cable modem so compatibility is a non issue.  Just like I used to use external modems which also made compatibility a non-issue.

Open the computer and look at the modem board.  Look for the names on the chipset.  Rockwell, Connexant (spelling?) and Lucent are good signs.
