ok, so i've been trying to get real audio support working in mplayer, but each time i try to use it, it crashes, giveing me different error messages each time!

so, if anyone could help me out, i'd really appreciate it. and if you need any information other then what i posted, just ask.

TheQuirk:
You probably forgot to feed mplayer. Maybe you should post the error messages?

distortion:
(note; i'm using the gui to do this)

i'd imagine that i'm supposed to use the "play url" option. if i'm wrong, that's probably my entire problem. anyway...

i either get "couldn't resolve url" (trying to play the same file works just fine on my brother's mac, using realone that is.), or that it isn't in a supported format. but after i reconfigured mplayer for real audio, real was listed as an enabled codec.

oh, and tell me how to feed it.

-thanks

Why not just use the Linux Real Player?

I would have said the same two months ago.  But at about that time, I concluded that Real too, is run by the Nazis (DRM).  Mplayer is open-source, and plays about everything.  MPlayer rox04 (forgive me, I'm still quite a newbie at h4XoR speech)!  Once you get it working.

OK, distortion, give us the URL of the file you are trying to listen to.  Also tell us the errors that you are getting.  Did you include the real codecs?  Did you use the option to point them out when you used ./configure

EG:
./configure --enable-vorbis --with-reallibdir=/home/distortion/mplayer/rpCodecs

or whichever dir the codecs are in?
