I am talking about the SuSE FTP download only

there are no ISO images on the site

I know I can do the FTP install over the internet but I rather format first what partition does Linux run under? [ sry for stupid question but im a noob to linux ]

if you mean, what filesystem format... it would be ext2 typically

look right f you use mandrake 9.1 you can pretty easily dual boot with with windows and slowly as you learn the linux apps and alternatives then you can fully migrate to mandrake suse is good but i recomend you use mandrake first when your good move to suse or red hat.
