You can do an FTP install for free over the internet, but I wouldn't be astute doing this, so I don't expect a "noob" to try it.  :D  

I really like Mandrake, especially 9.1, I think it will serve our new comrade well.

they (Mandrake) have done a good job of turning most of the system configuration into GUI, much like yast, and Mdk 9.1 uses the RieserFS, exactly like SuSE, and Mandrake Uses LILO, might not mean much to a "noob", but if he ever wants to it will be easy to incorperate other Distros into the Boot Loader.

I don't understand the Syntax for Grub, I still can't get RedHat 8 or above to boot from the SuSE splash screen, 7.3 worked for some reason though??

Any way, I think MDK is a close second, dare I say equal to SuSE Linux. I've just become comfortable with SuSE, and I fear change.........  :D

LOL Im not a n00b to ftp I just burned the ISO of mandrake 9.1 i will install it wen i get my new pc i will put it on this one  :D   during this time i will learn everything I can about linux, Why is linux so hidden and not that many people know about it? all most ppl know are mac and M$ Windows

Oh no, you see the system is installed from the server, you never download the iso, you use SuSE.com as the CD

lol I didnt download it I just dragged it out of there FTP and put it on my PC and burned the image look for yourself

ftp://raven.cslab.vt.edu/pub/linux/mandrake/iso/

Those I belive are all ISO images of Mandrake 9.1
