:/ I'm back on Windows XP now - for the sole reason that Counter-Strike wont work.

Im no big gamer, just i am in a clan, and i enjoy playing that one game.
And i cba to restart to the windows partition just to play CS.

Well i play a game of CS virtually every evening - so this would be daft switching from windows to linux all the time.

Yes i have dual-boot. but i tend not to shut down my PC whenever possible (obviously XP crashes cannot be helped).

You need the quintessential WineX FAQ/Tip It tells you everything.

I have been here before.

quote:
$ cd /mnt/cdrom //Changes to the mount point of your CD-ROM.
$ winex Setup.exe //starts the installation.
Perform the installation process as you would in windows.
$ cd /path/to/csv15full.exe //Change to the directory where your Counter-Strike mod installation .exe is located
Perform the installation process as you would in windows.

You should now have Half-Life and Counter Strike installed.
nb. I have missed out the installation of the various updates to HL.

^^^
I cannot get past this bit, you see "wine setup.exe" does nothing, the setup.exe will not open :/

Did you type 'Setup.exe'?
Please note uppercase 'S'

Did it give you the joy of an error message?

Shouldn't you be typing "winex" or "winex3" instead of "wine"?

Hmm, I'm not sure about that.
Few questions:
1) Does winex give you any messages in the console window you started it from?
2) What does CS itself say in the console?
If noithing then check Q1, if it fails WON authentication it is very likely a firewalling problem.

Come back to me on them, I don't really have many other ideas at the moment. I'll give it some thought.
