flap:
Install gcc.

enjoijeff:
tried it....

Some package requested cannot be installed:
gcc-3.3.2-4mdk.i586 (due to unsatisfied libgcc[>= 3.3.2-4mdk])

flap:
Install libgcc.

That error message just means you have an unsatisfied dependency and need to install another package. Are you using mandrake? I think if you use urpmi to install packages it'll fetch and install all packages as necessary.

enjoijeff:
*** Warning: X development files not found. Wine will be built without
*** X support, which currently does not work, and would probably not be
*** what you want anyway. You will need to install devel packages of
*** Xlib/Xfree86 at the very least.

Configure finished.  Do 'make depend && make' to compile Wine.

Install the X development headers and try again.
