Which RH 7.3 CD's?
« on: 16 August 2002, 00:00 »
I am considering installing RH 7.3 on a box, but I am wondering, do I really need to download all three ISO's?

What about the two SRPM's?

It would be wise to download all three ISOs but you do not need the SRPMS ISOs unless of course you want the source to everything (the SRPM CDs are not part of the 3 install CDs).  You might be able to do a minimal install without the 3rd CD but I needed all three on every RH73 install I have done for the applications that I typically pick.

7.0 and 7.2 installs required all three CD's, it that is any consolation.

I tried an absolute minimal (graphical) install with 7.3 (on a laptop) and I still required 2 CD's. I don't think you can get a really practical configuration, unless you have all three install CDs.

The SRPM's are really commercial Linux products, with differing licences from GPL. A full (and that means an everything install) install of Red Hat does not use the SRPMS, so that's two you don't need.
