hoojchoons, that is a very funny link! here's my favourite bit:
quote:As the Windows platform continues to evolve and provide more functionality and features to address business computing needs, many organizations currently on UNIX platforms are looking to Windows to run their new client and server business applications.
--- End quote ---
HAW HAW HAW HAW HAW !!! (long inbreath) HAW HAW HAW HAW HAW!!! (inbreath again) HAW HAW HAW!! AHUH! AHUH! Aaaaaaha ha ha!!

PS, oh and X11, what kind of moron did you say uses XP?  ;)

My favorite part is:

quote:Whether you are only considering a migration to Windows, beginning to plan your migration, or deep in the throes of implementing a migration, there is detailed information here to help you.
--- End quote ---

In particular I'm laughing at how they refer to the "throes of implementation" as if moving to Window$ will cause you to convulse like a dying monster.  Naturally, it will be your computer convulsing, as all things bright and wonderful are driven from your computer.

Ok, that was a little graphic, but ever since this one Linux computer at my school was lost to Microsloth, I've been prone to emotional outbursts when discussing Window$.

Calum, you said that "format c: is beyond most users" well actually that command doesn't help at all with the installation of Windows. i tried to install Linux on my P1 but it would not install because of TONS of compatibility issues so when i tried to put Windows back i couldn't because Windows is too stupid to know how to make its own partitions like Linux can. it's a toughy because it's almost as if it's not public information of how to set Windows partitions...nobody cares....just leave the computer as it came

so basically i was stuck with a hard drive Linux could not use and Windows did not attempt to use it.  :(
it was only a 1gig drive though, i took a magnet to it then opened it up and played with the shiny metal disks inside.....hard drives are super shiny inside  :D

sporkme:
you have to partition  read up man!

if you type fdisk after booting a winbloze floppy you can figure it out with half a brain cell

let it use some space and put linux on the rest

format c:   puleeze

i prefer:
 attrib *.* -r -a -s -h /s
 deltree /y windows
"now deleting windows"    :D

wow i just told you more than ms tech support the big budget can tell you

for free

Chooco:
yeah uh Windows partitions are like not common knowledge and fdisk is a bitch to use.
