DukePuke,

If you're having trouble with slackware, it might help to switch to something like mandrake or fedora while you learn the file structure, commmands, and general ins & outs of the system.

Both of these distros are much more "automated", and require much less manual configuration.

DukePuke:
Man, thanks for advices, but I am not planing to change distro for about few months, so I am gonna live with slack for a while. The comp i use it now, is for internet browsing, so i dont care much about those distros. Of course I got problems then i tryed to install some games, apps, some worked some not. I am learning

WMD:
Much of what happened was for login security; no backspacing user IDs or passwords, it's supposed to be that way.  As for the deleting of part of the prompt, that's weird.

Here's an idea for you DukePuke:  log in as root, then type in telinit 4.   Watch the awesomeness.  :D   To make that happen by default you gots to edit a file, I think it's /etc/inittab.  There's a line that'll have "initdefault" in it, with a 3.  Change that 3 to a 4.  Then that'll happen when you start up.

PS: In Slackware it's 4, not 5, so don't try to correct me  ;)

DukePuke:
You advicing me to login as root and execute misc command, LOL i am not stupid to fuck up my comp ok?
