Cygwin + XDMCP rules!

(1/1)

slave:
My dorm building just got a bunch of new Dells installed in the downstairs computer lab, and they are real nice machines except they all run Windoze 2000.  So, what I did was download the cygwin X server and installed it on one of the computers (you don't even need admin access to do this) and set up my upstairs computer to allow incoming XDMCP requests.  I went downstairs, started cygwin, and typed $XWin :1 -query <my ip address>  The screen changed and suddenly I was staring at my computer's login screen.  I could log in and check email, send files, blah blah, etc.  And all remotely!  I also do this from my univ's unix lab (since GNOME looks a lot better than CDE)  How cool is that?

shuiend:
when you installed cygwin X server did you have to restart the computer? Also can yuo mount that computers file system?
