Post installation for Rh 9.0
« on: 9 September 2003, 00:52 »
The installation went pretty smooth. The OS detected everything and I was able to boot into Linux.
After vainly tyring to register at Red hat for (the updates) a long time I finally figured out that, as posted there, my certificate used by up2date and rhn_register to communicate with Red Hat Network  had expired on August 28th, 2003 (yes, I did see a SSL error messages).
quote:
...Users attempting to connect to Red Hat Network will see SSL connection or certificate verification failures.

Am I correct, after reading
this
for my version of i386, I need to do download both
up2date-3.1.23.2-1.i386.rpm
and
up2date-gnome-3.1.23.2-1.i386.rpm ?

And then I login as a su user and run these commands:
[root@localhost user]# rpm -Fvh up2date-* ?

yep, go to oldos.org/rhl.htm for the proper instructions for post install. apt and synaptic are easier, more reliable and free compared with red hat's up2date.
