X in FreeBSD

(1/1)

Master of Reality:
when i try to start X (startx) in FreeBSD it gives me the error:

--- Code: ---
--- End code ---
but the mouse works in the console. Any ideas how to fix this?

ravuya:
Have you tried running XF86Config previously? If so, did you pick the correct mouse device?

Master of Reality:
i did now. It doesnt have a problem with the mouse anymore. Now it gives me the error:

--- Code: ---
--- End code ---
any ideas how to fix this one?

if your using X 4.2.0,

type this as root

/usr/X11R6/bin/xf86cfg

it will automagically configure X for you

Master of Reality:
new problem!
I did the config thing above. Got an error saying 24 bit resolution was too good for me. I edited XF85config and now i get a new error:

--- Code: ---
--- End code ---
this is probly because it doesnt know what my video card is. I have no clue what the hell my video card is. Maybe i will have to open up my computer and find out what it is.
