Internet connection question
DownDraft:
I am a very new to Linux. I have had it with Windows. I got a copy of SuSE Linux 7.1 from a friend, and I am ready to dump M$ completely. But I am having trouble getting connected to my ISP. My problem seems to be with my Wireless Linksys network. And I went to there site and there is no support for Linux/unix, and in the manuals that came with the Linksys router and wireless PCI card say that it does not support linux. Is this true? and if its not could someone spend a few minutes explaining to me what I should do!
Please Help! I really want to dump my Windows!
Thanks in advance

I very much doubt that it will not work with linux. What model/name is your router?
Does the router cannect to an ethernet card. I have never used any internet like that before, but i will try to help.

The Router is a Wireless Access Point(WAP)Router model # BEFW11S4 ver. 2.
I have an ethernet card (3com not sure of the model #) in one computer and a wireless card in the other. I have installed linux on both computers. and I cannot get either of them to connect.

This document looks pretty good but it may be a little outdated. I found a lot of documentation like this by searching Google. It also appears that LinkSys does not "officially" support Linux but even after getting the cold shoulder Linux supports LinkSys. It kinda sucks that they say they don't support Linux because I have bought many LinkSys PCMCIA network cards because they work great in Linux and they are very inexpensive.

Good luck with the Access Point. I still like stringing Cat5 through my house and I figure I get enough radiation the way it is. But there are times I wish I could go sit on the back porch (or the porcelain throne) without having to drag a cable around.
