Just installed Knoppix
hnugz:
Everything was pretty spiffy. I just have a couple of quick questions. On the partitioning, I set the swap partition to be 2gb. I assume this is more than enough, does it make a difference? What should it be set to ideally? My comp has 512mb of memory.
Also, lilo was the only option during the install. It looks really awful and I would like to use grub. Does grub come with knoppix? How would I remove lilo and install grub? Thanks.
HPC GUY:
your swap file is usually twice the size of your ram. 1 gb should be fine
Enmity:
Everyone says that, why though?
Can't I have swap that's 50000 times my RAM (not practical but just exagerrating)
suselinux:
would a bigger swap make for a faster system?
slave:
A swap file is really only useful for systems with less than a gig of RAM. If you have a gig or more, I wouldn't even bother with a swap file (or if you make one, make it the same size of your RAM) On my system (128MB) I have a 256 MB swap file.
