music apps on Linux

(1/2) > >>

Lopes:
Hello all,

I've recently installed RH7.3 on my box (this is my first experience with Linux) and would spend most of the time on this side of the fence if I can get some decent music apps on the FruityLoops sort of tip. I heard about one app called 'Reborn' but it's been removed (due to issues with propellerhead).
I'd greatly appreciate any pointers you can give.

Thanks

Calum:
i heard of one called SLab which might be up to the sort of standard of sound forge but i could not get it to install.

If you find any good ones, please keep us informed! there is another thread in the unix section about this if you want to dig it out.

welcome, and good luck!

Lopes:
Thanks for that Callum.

Another issue is that when I start up (in KDE desktop) I get the sounds when I select something but not a thing when I play CD's. I'm using an SBLive! 5.1 S/card. I take it the drivers must be there but why no response from the CD player?

Also cant find the Unix forum (thought I was in it now....)

There's an entire audio-focused distro called Agnula being put together.

Wow, this looks really cool, can't wait for that project to take shape!!!!
I don't play the guitar that much anymore but if it includes a multitrack recorder even a little like Cubase or Cakewalk I might start recording my stuff again  ;)
