You can run quite a few apps on it, as it's still Linux with X11 at its heart. Built on Komodo, it will have the ability to convert RPM into Komodo installer bundles... so, therefore you can install most apps. Right off the CD, you can install Komodo bundles and they'll run without error.
However... to take full advantage of GenSTEP, you'll want to run apps built to the GNUstep API. Cocoa and YellowBox apps can easily be ported, as well.
