RH 8.0 & networking problems

<< < (6/6)

Ice-9:
I tried  /sbin/dhclient -r and it didn't work.
I tried unplugging my modem, wait for 10-15 min and it didn't work.
Then I went to bed, frustrated as hell.
Now it works, again, there are a few hours between boots ......

I just don't know what to do anymore, and I don't understand, that's what frustrating me the most!
I'd like to keep RH 8.0 because I find it to be the best distro I've used so far, appart from this problem that is.

I'll try to give my isp a call today, see if they can tell me why this is happening.
If not I'll reinstall and if it still doesn't work I guess it erasing time      :(

Edit : I didn't see you added the Mac address piece.
It's the same in Win2K and In RH 8.0, I unbound it through the GUI and that didn't help either.
Here's what arp -a gives me:
[root@pandora root]# arp -a
D5E03001.kabel.telenet.be (ip address here) at 08:00:3E:17:62:52 [ether] on eth0

Don't know if that tells you anything?
