Redhat 8.0 and ldconfig

I was trying to install xine last night. You are supposed to do a "ldconfig" but bash said, "command not found".

Anyhow, I eventually discovered that you have to do a "/sbin/ldconfig".

Is this normal, or is this a bug?

i am going to take a stab that that is normal. A lot of commands are in /sbin b/c i believe that is where root executes things.

flap:
/sbin isn't in your path. when doing something as root type "su -" instead of just "su" and this will set your path variable.

Cool thanks I didnt know about su - that will come in handy

And RudeCat7 I think everyone sould use linux in lue of Microsoft software. Maybe that way companys will start making cooler programs for us.

HUH? I only use linux appz. NO dual boot for my RH8.0, although I am considering adding SuSe 8.0 for a linux dual boot.
