Fact remains, Microsoft is losing. Linux is a good alternative to their monopoly, and governments all over the world are using that now. Wether it's because they want entire Windows packages for free or to really switch to Linux, not giving money to Microsoft is always a good thing.

I hope this development keeps going.

Microsoft is doing this because it's all they can do. Alternative operating systems can be cheaper and better and the only thing left to do is spread FUD. They had to take some kind of evil-corporation action, so this was it.

Personally, I find it hilarious that microsoft is so afraid that they needed to try something, but all they are capable of is a crappy page of lies.

If they put as much work into their operating system as they do into marketing, they might have a decent product.  It doesn't make any sense - they have the most money to throw at a project, why do they always produce crap?  FSF, by definition, throws no money at a project and produces brilliance.  Whatever Microsoft is doing, they are doing it wrong.
