i've gotten so far 3 of my friends to try to install linux. one of them actually had it before i knew what linux was, but couldn't use it, and the others know nothing of computers, so i have a lot of work getting them prepared for linux. one of my best friends screwed up his computer and i'm trying to fix it right now, but i keep getting many errors that makes me think that it is a hardware problem, which will not be good cause i voided the warrenty :( by trying to fix it.
anyway, it shouldn't be too hard to convice ppl that linux is better, especially if they know you are good w/ computers and help them out.
hey master-- what is bob?

hi!
First of all, u are not supposed of going around convincing people to use linux..People should understand the GNU model and the idea behind free software.
One should'nt care less if ur using linux. Also, linux is only the kernel, and was put into the incomplete GNU OS which Dr Stallman has worked for so much.
The GNU movement is not about building something mean against Microsoft. It's all about freedom from the shackles of proprietory software and of course ethics.
We have to make people understand of what GNU is and how to contribute back to the community.
Pls head over to www.gnu.org and understand the concepts throughly.
thanks,

Hello all
Was just wondering how I can convince my (primarily XP using) friends that Linux is great? How can I, a mere newbie, show them the light of this wonderful OS?

My question is that after they have been working on Hurd for so long now, will it be something revolutionary, or will it fail due to the success of linux?

Ask the people what it's worth to them to have a (virtually) viru-free OS ... I do, especially after people have encountered lots of frustration after their Outlook Express encountered another worm viru ... :D
