all well and good, yes the search industry is in it's infancy, improvements can be made. What sort of "improvements" are M$ planing I wonder? What sort of proprietary "standards" are we going to see used for this one. This is a very dangerous development, really, M$ must be stoped, because I for one don't think they can be trusted to do the right thing.

HPC GUY:
"The decision to build or buy came down to our ability to innovate," said Kirk Koenigsbauer, strategy manager at Microsoft's MSN Internet portal.

sigh, theres that word again. innovate, microsoft has turned that into a buzzword designed to make stupid people sound important and intelligent.

"Our ability to innovate is predicated on our ability to own the platform," he added,

that statement made no sense.

"Any time Microsoft builds something into the operating system, they don't want to get that from anyone else," said analyst Matt Rosoff of Directions on Microsoft, an independent research group based in Kirkland, Washington.

Wrong again, IE was was someone elses app, ms paint was someone elses app, ms money was,  someone elses app, i meant christ half of the os is based off of non m$ applications that were gobbled up by the friggin empire.
