Sb Live Aud Plat in RH8, Alsa or NO go??

i am using rh8 dualing with xp pro..

i hvae a sb live audigy plat 2

i went underroot, did the sndconfig..found the card..
i hit next..and it says
"the sound blaster live audigy platinum is not supported at this time"

i hear alot bout alsa, and it gives the unsupported cards just the basic functionality..
i know their site.
but does someone have a VERYYYY good descriptive HOW_TO , from start to finish to get this working.. their site seems kinda greek to me..
any help would be most appreciated..specially if you over came the same issue ..
