Well Zombie brings up good points. I mean if MS wants to be some giant monopoly, why must they leave one too many flaws in their software? In another thread you mention how problems with Wind0ze are just a result of your bios and hardware, ok fine arguement. But the average wind0ze user is not hardcore and coulden't optimze their hardware selection or bios for the life of them. Why should a company that provides a quick and easy solution make their solution work half-assed for the vast majority of the people who they make it for?

Simple fact, Windows just works, it has a large software library(that has been growing for years) and is easy enough that a computer illiterate grandma can use it. Windows may leave a little to be desired for hardcore computer gurus, but it is perfect for 95% of the computer users in the world. Linux is getting easier and easier every time a new build of MAndrake/Redhat comes out..but really Linux is still too complicated for the average computer user. Linux has it's place, on servers and hardcore guru's systems. Windows has a place, on the average joe blow who wants to be able to play games, run apps sold in stores, chat, etc.

All OS'es have a place. None of them should be wiped off of the face of the Earth. Sure, MS practices dishonest business behavior, but what company out to make money doesn't? Businesses sell products to make money and they don't give a shit who's throat they have to cut to be a success...that is the real world for you.

Dishonest business practics are a part of the real world yes, but guess what, they are a bad thing.  They hurt everyone all the way down to you and me.  I don't have a problem with M$ being on the market, but the problem comes when M$ uses their marketing clout to drown out all the compeditors, even ones with superior products.  Example: Netscape.  Netscape was far superior to IE, but then M$ used bundeling to snuff it out.  Had netscape continued, we would all likely have better experiences with the Internet.  

Today, you are paying too much for inferior, dangerous software that want to take as much control over YOUR computer as possible away from you and give it to the same company that is ripping people off.  Your also forced into an endless upgrade cycle for both hardware and software.  

You say windows just works?!?!  No, it just breaks down, spys on you, east meeory, and opens its doors wide to more kinds of trojans and viruses than you could imagine.  If your computer illiterate grandma wants a copmoter, get her a mac.  They are easier to use than windows.  No registration, fewer viruses, and a large enough software library for anyone.

Your right, all OSes have a place.  And the place for windows is in the trash can.  No intelligent person could ever like windows.  I guess people just believe what they hear, and allow themselves to be brainwashed by anyone with enough money for big advertizement.  Zombie, I think your name is fitting.

well, the computer shop down the street is run by a fucking clown. this guy can't get the fact that the winxp install disc can format drives. i was getting ready to say bullshit, ive worked with more nt than you want, more then i want actaully. i think the only thing he did was get his a+ wich should have been a f-. im having a problem helping my friend fix a computer that this clown sold him. there getting ready to tell the guy to go see the man with a pitchfork and stay for awhile after refunding the pc, and going to dell.com and buying a system, actaully for x86, dell deson't do that bad.

agian, if i have just spread FUD, please correct and torch with abandon and glee   ;)
