i lost another mb to capaceters, so once again ill have to go down to radioshack and pick up a new cap and play with the soldering iron. by any chance are their capaceters that don't leak? ive heard of tantulem/*sp?*/ but i hear they fail with a bang

mobrien_12:
It's "tantalum."  I have read that tantalum capacitors are better for motherboard applications, but I'm not sure why.

i can almost see that being the next big "mod", taking all the electroletics off and replacing them. and i have heard the same about tantalum caps. does anybody know why they would be better? and where i could buy some?/*radioshack has a few, but not the assortment i would need.*/

rtgwbmsr:
This was a big issue...it was on slashdot a while back. Go check them out, they have a long list of mobo and comp manufacturers that used bad resistors.

Kintaro:
I think those caps dont leak as much (it would be impossible to have one not leak i think) and they last longer (i think).

I have never had cap problems on anything new however.
