is it true that XP automatclly registers itself upon regestration and everything that you install afterward? ive heard conflicting reports.

With its tired, poor, avenging disgrace,
Peaceful loving youth against the brutality,
Of plastic existence.

Pushing little children,
With their fully automatics,
They like to push the weak around...

You don't know do you?  Unfortunately you can't ever *know* because you can't look at the source code. You can only go with what MS tells you.  You *could* of course never hook your computer up to the internet but that would be a boring eXPerience now wouldn't it?

I have an idea for an experiment.  install XP on your LAN and capture all the packets from the XP machine, on another machine on your LAN.......analyze all the packets to find out exactly what is being sent to M$.

I don't have the time, but can someone review this methodology and maybee after this semester is over I can work on it.

I have a better idea, don't run XP.  And I block all access to as many M$ sites as I can at my firewall and proxy (msn.com, microsoft.com, etc).
